Farm Welding Part Deux

This project has been more complicated than expected, just like most projects. TIG was the correct process for welding the gas manifold and hood, however, not the best for the rest of the farm which was made out of various dirty metals. MIG would have been more forgiving as well as a lot faster and easier in a windy green house.

The initial build placed the hood too close to the wheels and the handle was extremely hard to use so there were revision made. The idea was to balance the weight of the hood with the weight of the 20 pound propane tank , I was hoping the buoyancy would make the handle easier to maneuver but that was not the case. Also the swivel of the flame weeding hood was a nice idea to allow it to be perpendicular to the ground regardless of the position of the handle, but… it actually moved too much so it was tightened down. See the evolution below, if I were to start over, I’d have spent more time testing the design before welding it together.
